Lydia Saylor
Lydia Saylor (soprano) has been a soloist for operatic and concert repertoire in her native NYC and abroad. Operatic roles include Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Morgana (Alcina), and Hypsipyle (Il Giasone). As a soloist with orchestra she has performed Bach St. John Passion, Zelenka Magnificat, Copland Eight Poems of Emily Dickinson, Fauré Requiem, Mendelssohn Elijah, Vaughan Williams Magnificat, Bach Cantata 51 (Jauchzet Gott). Lydia has been a soloist for premieres of choral-orchestral works including A Festival of Psalms by Kerensa and David Briggs, Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass by David Stern, and A Child is Born by Bruce Saylor. '
As an ensemble soloist abroad she has performed works by Holly Herndon in Singapore and by her sister Evelyn Saylor in London, The Hague, and Vienna. Lydia loves performing contemporary music and has performed songs and chamber music by Steve Reich, Lukas Foss, Joel Mandelbaum, Mathew Rosenblum, Ben Yarmolinsky, and her father Bruce Saylor. She received her Master of Music from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, where she was a winner of both the Concerto Competition and the Bach Competition. Lydia is a member of the NYC-based chamber ensemble Alegría Ensemble. She was a fellow at this year’s Bach Institute at Emmanuel Church in Boston, and was a Tenet Trailblazer in the 2025-2026 season.
