PAUL MAX TIPTON

Described by the Dallas Morning News as “gloriously godly” and by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a dignified and beautiful singer, bass- baritone Paul Max Tipton performs and records in opera, concert, and chamber music throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

He has recently sung Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Bach Collegium Japan for a debut in Tokyo, Raphael in Haydn’s Creation with Pacific Symphony, Plutone in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo with Göteborg Baroque, Christus in Bach’s St. John Passion with Seattle Symphony, and covered the title role in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at Handel & Haydn Society under Raphaël Pichon.

Recent recording releases include Bach’s B-minor Mass with Apollo’s Fire, several major works by Bach for Avie Records with Nicholas McGegan and Cantata Collective, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with Seraphic Fire, and two albums of works by Nicolaus Bruhns for the BIS label with Masaaki Suzuki at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. 2025-2026 saw debuts at Kansas City Symphony Orchestra & Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, return engagements at Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Tenet Vocal Artists, and Cantata Collective in Berkeley. For 2027, Mr. Tipton makes his debut at Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Handel’s Messiah. In 2012 Mr. Tipton was made a Lorraine Hunt Lieberson Fellow at Emmanuel Music in Boston.
