Kayleigh Sprouse
Soprano Kayleigh Sprouse is known for her “attention-garnering voice” and expressive artistry, “adding delight to…production[s]” (OperaGene). Her recent operatic appearances include First Witch in Dido and Aeneas at the Spoleto Music Festival, First Witch/Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas with Opera Lafayette, Licenza in the modern world premiere of Reutter’s Dafne with the Amherst Early Music Festival, Diana in Cavalli’s La Calisto with Peabody Opera at the Baltimore Theater Project, the premiere of Tim Holt’s Nobody Is Ever Missing with Mind on Fire at Baltimore’s Voxel Theater, and Zoey in a live workshop of Meg Huskin’s Rabbit Season with TellTale Opera.
Kayleigh’s work often centers on vocal ensemble performance and the artistic possibilities of multiple solo voices, and she is well known for her "stoic tone" and “precise performances” (Washington Classical Review). She is a founding member of the Anchorites Ensemble and currently sings as a core member of the Emmanuel Choir in Baltimore. She also performs with the Baltimore-based Dualis Ensemble and frequently appears with the Grammy-nominated Lorelei Ensemble. This upcoming season, Kayleigh is excited to perform the roles of Un Plaisir and Amour in the modern world premiere of Rameau's Les Surprises de l'Amour with Opera Lafayette, return with the Lorelei Ensemble for the Winter Solstice Tour, and perform the St. John Passion with the Tenet Vocal Ensemble.
Kayleigh holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance/Pedagogy from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Ah Young Hong, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Christopher Newport University, where she studied under Dr. Rachel Holland.
