Jeannette Lee

Praised for her ‘warm mezzo tone’ (Boston Musical Intelligencer) and ‘rare stillness and depth’ (Interlude), Hong Kong-born mezzo-soprano Jeannette Lee is a versatile artist whose work spans opera and concert repertoire across the United States and abroad. Recent engagements include choral appearances with Music of the Baroque at the Aspen Music Festival, Chicago Symphony Hall, and Lincoln Center, as well as Teatro Nuovo, where she covered Teresa (La sonnambula).

She recently made her solo debut at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel’s St. John Passion and will sing with Tenet Vocal Artists in the upcoming season. As a soloist, she has appeared in works by Bach, Handel, Monteverdi, Britten, and Golijov. Operatic highlights include La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi), Annio (La clemenza di Tito), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), and L’enfant (L’enfant et les sortilèges), alongside contemporary premieres with Guerilla Opera and White Snake Projects.

She is the 2025 runner-up in the Colorado Bach Ensemble Young Artist Competition. In addition to her performance work, she serves as Early Music America’s IDEA Task Force member and President of the Asian Opera Alliance, where she now leads national efforts toward equity and representation in opera.
