In the Course of Love and Joy
The magical world of the trouvères
We cordially invite you to the annual meeting of the Medieval poetic society Puy d’Arras. Our meetings are a pilgrimage stop for famous trouvères from near and far. Join us for an evening of witty and inventive duels of poetic wit, heart-wrenching chansons, tales of courtly love, and tunes from the house band. Adam de la Halle, Maroie de Diergnau, Thibault de Champagne (and his not-so-secret lady love, Blanche de Castille…) have already RSVP’d, and we hope to see you among our illustrious company.

Meet Our Collaborators
A restless collective of medieval experimentalists, the Brooklyn-based ensemble ALKEMIE is unabashed about dismantling the barriers that have traditionally separated the past from our present experience. Comprised of singer-performers playing two dozen instruments—including vielles (early fiddles), harps, psaltery, organistrum, recorders, douçaines & dulcians (early double reeds), bagpipes, and percussion—they are known for their “characterful playing” (The New Yorker) and “fresh arrangements that incorporate touches of bluegrass and Celtic music” (The Whole Note). Alkemie recently gained recognition for their soundtrack for the Peabody award-winning and BAFTA-nominated video game Pentiment, which Gamereactor said “truly elevated the experience to a height normally reserved for angels and aircrafts.
