San Francisco Girls Chorus Presents:Surprising Freedoms: Music from Behind Convent Walls

  • First Congregational Church 2345 Channing Way Berkeley, CA, 94704 United States (map)

TENET will join the San Francisco Girls Chorus for the season opening concert of music composed by and for women in Italian monasteries in the 17th century, revealing a different view of cloistered life during the baroque era. Separated from many wordly indulgences, women in monasteries were often able to pursue active careers and acclaim by perfecting the creation of music and literature, resulting in masterworks of stunning and rarely heard beauty.
